Harley rider facing OWI charges after accident

There are many motorcycle enthusiasts in Iowa and elsewhere around the nation. Some of the most avid motorcycle riders are Harley Davidson owners. Special gatherings among the network of riders are common throughout the country. Yet, regardless of the make and model of the motorcycle, no rider ever wants to be involved in an accident. However, a man from Thornton finds himself facing OWI charges after he was involved in a recent incident.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office reports that a 48-year-old man was driving his Harley Davidson west on a street north of Meservey one evening. Documents show that he slid into a ditch after he lost control of his bike. Police officers claimed that the man was intoxicated. According to reports, while the man suffered minor injuries, medical treatment was not needed. Law enforcement officials stated that the man's motorcycle was damaged in the crash.

The man has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. He also faces charges of failure to maintain control and operating a motor vehicle without a license. He is waiting for a court date to be set.

Facing OWI charges in Iowa is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly. Those convicted of the charges can have their licenses revoked or may be required to have ignition interlock devices installed on their vehicles. In addition, a person may have to pay monetary fines or spend time in jail. To avoid or minimize these negative consequences, it would be wise to seek the counsel of an experienced criminal defense attorney. A respected lawyer will work diligently on a client's behalf throughout the entire legal process.
